How many photos will I have to choose from? For portrait session expect 50-100, weddings I shoot an average of 100/hr.
When will I get to view my images? Within a week of your event / photo shoot I will post some previews on my blog and Facebook page. For general portrait shoots expect to wait about three weeks, for weddings four to five weeks. When your collection is ready we will view them together in my studio on the large screen, see products, and place your print order.
Can I print from the Web CD? You cannot print from this disk, the files are sized and formatted for the web only. It is a violation of copyright law to print from this disk.
Who retains copyright/ reproduction rights to the images? Ashley Porter retains both copyright/reproduction rights to the images under all circumstances. This means I can post online, use for promotion, etc. I do aPrinting Disk at a premium pice, and if you purchase this disk, you retain the reproduction rights to print the images up to 8x10 inhes.
What's the difference between partial and full edits? A partial edit is the standard edit for proofing, and includes basic adjustments such as tone, white balance, exposure, (brightness/darkness), contrast, and saturation. A full edit is the next step, applied to all prints ordered through Ashley Sturm Photography. This involves basic skin correction, eye brightening, special color toning, and other conversions, vignettes, textures, etc.
Will my Printing Disk include basic or full edits? Your Printing Disk will include the basic edit on all the pictures from your session, and in addition you select your favorite 25 to receive a full edit.
Do you do destination weddings? Yes, I love destination weddings!
Why an engagement session? An engagement session is the perfect time to get to know one another and for you to get comfortable with how I photograph before the wedding. Plus, who doesn't want to get all decked out and have a collection of romantic, edgy, fun photos?
Do you have back up gear? Of course!
How long have you been photographing weddings? My interest in photography began in 2006. I started my photography business in 2008 developing a strong base in portraiture. I shot my first wedding in the summer of 2009 and LOVED every minute of it! I am very confident in my ability to capture all the special moments of your wedding day!
Do you use a second shooter for weddings? All wedding packages unless otherwise noted include a second shooter to be a second set of eyes ensuring all the moments are captured.
What is the Day After Session? The Day After Session is not literally the day after your wedding, but the idea is within a few weeks of your wedding you two (bride and groom) get back in your dress and tux, we go to a great location, and really spend some time capturing you two without all the stress of the day.
What is your wedding cancellation policy? With all weddings I require a 50% non-refundable deposit. In the event that the wedding is canceled, any investment beyond the initial 50% would be refunded.
If you get sick do you have a substitute that would shoot our wedding? If something goes wrong and I am unable to shoot your wedding, I have a strong network of professional photographers who are available for emergencies. I would only pair you with a photographer whom I feel is as good if not better than myself.
How many outfit changes do I get? As many cute outfits as you want to, in fact I encourage you to bring lots of options, including accessories, and layers to achieve multiple looks within one outfit.
Are there clothing items, makeup choices, hairstyles to avoid? I am all about you expressing yourself and rocking your personal style! There are however a few things I advise you to stay away from; clothing with big branding, such as Hollister slapped across your chest, heavy makeup (a natural look is always best), a fresh haircut (its best to cut hair no sooner than three weeks before your session so it sets in). Overall I'm pretty relaxed, and I will give on-site advice so rest assured you will look awesome!
Can I post the photos online? With each session I provide a complimentary disk of images so you can share your photos online with friends. All web images come with a small watermark, please DO NOT crop this out of the photo! Its a great way to give me credit for taking the picture and spread the word. I also ask you to not crop, or edit the image.
What is your portrait cancellation policy? With all sessions I require a non-refundable deposit of your entire session fee. In the event that the session is canceled the session fee will not be refunded.
How do I order my prints? About three weeks after your session we schedule a meeting at our downtown studio to view and order the photos. I will assist you to make the best selections, and purchase products that you will love for years to come. Full payment is due upon completing the order at our meeting.
How long have your been in business? I have been working my dream job for 3 years now!
What if I want to place a second order later, will I still be able to? Yes you will, you can always place an order. My prices, however, are subject to change. In most cases, you will need to request me to re-post an online gallery for you to order from.
How long do you keep my photos after taking them? I always, always have three copies of your images, two on-site and one off-site. You can come to me in 20+ years and they will still be here for you, I don't believe in ever getting rid of my photographs. EVER.
